Brief summary: This story ratchets up the obvious "office politics" involved in an intraoffice affair by taking the perspective of Jack's boss, Paula Van Doren, during and after the events of "Fallout" in season 1. Van Doren's take on both the parties and events involved manages to stay very neutral, up until the final discussion with Jack, where she gives her tacit blessing. It's surprising, yet perfectly in line with this office's policy of not caring what people do with their personal lives, as long as their work isn't affected. This minor character, who played a major role in the first season finale, acts as the perfect vehicle to communicate the author's insightful take on the relationship.

Brief summary: Before Seige III aired, SGA fandom was rife with thoughts and ideas on how each of the characters would get out of their predicament from the end of Seige II. As far as we knew at the time, Teyla had been captured by the Wraith and was probably imprisoned aboard a hive ship.

Given that set-up, the author does an incredible job of weaving in some thoughts about what Wraith technology might be like plus some speculation on the effects of the Wraith gene and illuminates Teyla's character with it: her determination, her strength, and her willingness to do whatever needs to be done. She is no damsel in need of rescue in this story. Teyla can rescue herself.
