Brief summary: Character death isn't a novel idea, but the tragedy here is not in the death itself, but the fallout from it. The narrative is especially effective, because it attempts to explain what happened to Jack through a seemingly professional outlet (a letter to his widow), but it gradually turns more and more personal, eventually ending up as "the letter Samantha will never send." In the end, it swings back to the professional, as we are reminded that Samantha has experienced a loss on both fronts. This story captures, and expands upon, what makes the series so compelling: the emotional nature of a job where the professional cannot help but turn personal. Hank Steinberg would be proud.

Why this story must be read:
First of all I think this is really an interesting 'What if'-question. Both Jon and Malcolm are really in character and the scenario is imaginable. It also is quite dark and a bit kinky. And before I forget to mention it: Jimaine's sex scenes are really hot!

Warum man diese Story unbedingt lesen sollte:
Die 'Was wäre wenn....' Frage finde ich ausgesprochen interessant. Und die Antwort auf diese Frage ist sehr gelungen: das Szenario ist glaubwürdig und auch Jon und Malcolm sind sehr gut getroffen. Die ganze Geschichte ist recht düster und kinky, aber trotzdem: Jimaines Sexscenen sind echt heiß!
