It doesn't exactly convey love in the regular, puppy-dog's-tails manner you might expect, but it's definitely love, and its wonderful and heartbreaking, and just when you think you've got it figured out? I'll bet money you haven't.

I've been trying to rec one Mal/Inara fic and one Inara only or other pairing fic in each post, since so many of the Inara-centric fics are Mal/Inara. I'm reccing two M/I fics in this post, though, because they're both on a similar theme and I really wanted to rec them together :) They're both based around a deleted scene from Serenity which can be found in the Visual Companion :D
