Brief summary: Snape disappears into northern part of the Isles after the war set on living his life in relative obscurity, but in peace. When one of his war damaged former students, Ron Weasley, ends up needing his care he comes to help the young man and finds out things about himself along the way. When dark forces come calling for Ron, Severus does everything in his power to protect this young permanently injured man who's become more than just a patient, but a friend and maybe even a lover. An engaging and captivating read-the words the author chooses are just perfect along with the characterization.

He forced his head to turn. Severus Snape was fast asleep in an armchair that had been pulled up close by the bed. Greatly relieved, Ron knew where he was.

Home. He was home.

With some difficulty, he rolled over onto his side and managed to prop himself up on an elbow. The tremors were not at their most inconveniencing and he was in the process of getting himself up and out of bed - he needed to piss in the worse way - when hands suddenly grasped his shoulders and held him still.

Ron forgot where he was; his eyes no longer saw the loft and he could only whimper with fear at the touch.

"It's only I. Snape. Look at me, Ron. See me."

And he did. And with that, he could push aside the terror which had inexplicably overwhelmed him.

Title: Damn Tornados
Author: Mad Maudlin [livejournal.com profile] wideworldsend
Characters: Ron Weasley/Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, Rita Skeeter, Pansy Parkinson, Hermione Granger
Prompt: #44-Mask
Rating: PG-13
Length: Epic
Brief summary: Ron makes a deal with a demon, er Draco Malfoy where he's the star player for Chudley Cannons and loved by fans and the press, but is that really what he wanted? Living a life without his family and friends, especially Harry, makes Ron come to some startling revelations. This story is unbelievably good, freakin' hilarious, and one of the best written stories of this pairing ever.

"Him!" Fred said, nearly putting Harry's eye out with his pointing finger.

George sighed. "He's only the greatest Quidditch player of the century, Hermione. Don't you read the papers?"

The greatest Quidditch player of the century blushed to the roots of his hair and inched sideways, so his back was no longer against the wall. "That's a bit excessive," he said uneasily.

"Oh, don't be modest!" George insisted. "You've got the Cannons on their longest winning streak since 1875! You're fifth the league! Is it true the Tornados offered you a thousand Galleons a game to replace Jenkins?" Hardy mumbled, and a fierce blush crept up his neck.

Fred laughed and shook his head. "This is unbelievable. Harry Potter and Ron Hardy living in the same flat! Someone will have to put Rita Skeeter on a bloody leash!"
