Claim: Stargate Atlantis: Elizabeth Weir
Title: Seachange
Author: ? (when it's revealed, I'll edit the post)
Characters: Elizabeth Weir, John Sheppard, Rodney McKay, Teyla Emmagen, Aiden Ford, Carson Beckett, mentions of others
Prompt: 42. Holiday
Length: 6570 words
Brief Summary: Elizabeth thought they'd be home in time for Christmas. She was wrong. Now, in the aftermath of the Genii attack, they put together a celebration of their own, not just of Christmas and Chanukah, but of surviving the storm. There's some mild Sheppard/Weir/McKay UST, but nothing that can't be dismissed as friendship, IMO.

Title: To Serve a Queen
Author: [livejournal.com profile] tielan
Characters: Elizabeth Weir, Ronon Dex, ensemble
Prompt: 19. Dark
Length: seventeen chapters
Brief Summary: This is a pairing I don't support or even really understand (Ronon/Weir), and crossed over/fused with a universe I once tried to read and couldn't because I found it too disturbing, and yet I'm rec'ing it, so what does that tell you about the fic? *grin* I chose it for this prompt not so much because the story is dark (although some parts are), but because the universe it's set in is one that turns our usual paradigms regarding light and dark upside down--the good guys worship darkness. It's the story of a warrior Prince sold into slavery and redeemed by a Queen finally worthy of his loyalty and, eventually, love. The characters all manage to be recognizeable while still fitting seamlessly into this very different world, and something about that world makes it easier for me to countenance pairings that would probably totally turn me off in a more familiar context. Or maybe the author's just that good. ;-)

Author: emergencyfan
Characters: Elizabeth Weir, Stephen Caldwell
Prompt: 37. make-up
Length: approx 1000 words, I think
Brief Summary: Okay, this may be a bit of a stretch for this prompt, but I think by the end of the fic Weir and Caldwell have reached something of an understanding over the events of "Intruder," with a little help from the myth of the original Daedelus. All the other prompts it fit, though, I'd already done and I don't want to use up all my reccer's choice ones on Caldwell. (Sorry, Colonel. ;-) )

Title: Draw
Author: [livejournal.com profile] regann
Characters: Elizabeth Weir, Stephen Caldwell, others
Prompt: 46. Reccer's Choice (games)
Length: 1977 words
Brief summary: Weir and Caldwell play games, both on and off the chessboard. I'm not actually a fan of the Weir/Caldwell pairing, but I'm intrigued by it and I like to see why other people think it works, so I read a bit more of it than I probably do any other Weir pairing that I don't support. I also love fic with chess metaphors, even though I've never played the game (terrible of me, I know), because it works so *well* as a metaphor. And this one makes the metaphor work *very* well.

Title: War Zones
Author: [livejournal.com profile] mandysbitch
Characters: Elizabeth Weir, John Sheppard, Rodney McKay, others
Prompt: 22. UST
Length: roughly 2000 words, I don't know
Brief summary: Another one in a similar vein to Jack of Spades: Elizabeth deals with the inevitable question from John, and has to make a difficult decision between who she is and who they could be, which turns out to be not so difficult after all. Picked for this prompt primarily because of *why* the UST is unresolved. I don't know why I've been reading so much fic lately about why they *wouldn't* work, when I believe they could find a way, but I guess there's just a lot of good stuff out there and I've never been one to be terribly threatened by an opposing viewpoint. ;-)

Author: Little Red
Characters: Elizabeth Weir, John Sheppard, others
Prompt: 25. Kink
Length: longish single-parter
Brief summary: I don't know if it's "kink" in the strictest sense of the word, but my personal bulletproof kink has always been telepathy, and this definitely qualifies. Like "Sober," this starts with a drink being served by new allies that turns out to be extraordinarily intoxicating and aphrodesiac: the difference is, this one also creates a telepathic link between John and Elizabeth, which, as you can imagine, makes the sex rather interesting. ;-)

Title: Jack of Spades
Author: Domenika Marzione
Characters: Elizabeth Weir, John Sheppard, Rodney McKay, others
Prompt: 31. Discovery
Length: 1077 words (nice of the author to include that info, huh? ;-) )
Brief Summary: A short, different but disturbingly plausible take on the aftermath of "The Storm" and "The Eye"--Elizabeth realizes how little she ever really knew John at all, and the barrier her new knowledge has erected between them even as it brought her and McKay closer. The part of me that's a Sheppard/Weir 'shipper has a gut aversion to this sort of an outcome for the episode, but it makes sense: Weir is, first and foremost, a peacemaker who values life above all else, and this episode would have brought home in a harsh way that whether she--or he--likes it or not, John Sheppard is a soldier and by extension a killer. Thought-provoking and disturbing, but in a good way.

Brief Summary: There's a sub-genre of Stargate fic that expands on the alternate reality from "The Changeling," often to incorporate more SG-1 and Atlantis characters. In this short, delightful piece, local civil servant Elizabeth Weir meets smoke jumper John Sheppard. The result is instant chemistry and silent death threats against one Samantha Carter for setting them up. ;-)

Title: "A Twisted Sort of Luck"
Author: [livejournal.com profile] medie
Characters: Elizabeth Weir, John Sheppard
Prompt: 32. Secrets
Length: longish one-parter
Brief summary: Explores the question, "what if John Sheppard and Elizabeth Weir weren't really strangers at the beginning of 'Rising'?" Basically explores the potential subtext involved in the chair scene if Weir's blurted "Who is this?" had been a cover for her utter shock at seeing the last person she'd ever expected to need to involve in her expedition. Slightly AU--pretty much by the very nature of the story, it has to ignore Simon or at least presume the Weir/Simon relationship is much more recent than later episodes would imply--but intriguing and extremely well written. And yes, I know I've rec'ed a lot of [livejournal.com profile] medie's stuff, but I can't help it, she's *good*!

Prompt: 03. Angst
Length: mid-length one-parter
Brief summary: Elizabeth keeps a box for the names and dogtags of the people they've lost, her own private penance for bringing them to Atlantis to die. Set after "The Siege," it's a compelling glimpse of the personal responsibility we know Weir feels for her people, relatively brief but impactful.

Prompt: 06. Anger
Length: longish one-parter, possibly 2000+ words
Brief summary: An expansion on the argument between Weir and McKay witnessed by Teyla at the end of "Trinity"; Elizabeth is angry with Rodney for nearly getting himself killed and with herself for not stopping him sooner, but there's more to it than that, something deeper and more personal that she can't acknowledge even to herself. Could have also worked for the "UST" prompt.

Length: uh...vignette-ish
Brief summary: Even though on the show we've only ever seen Teyla, John and Ronon of the leads doing the stick-fighting, in fanfic everyone does it and there's a reason for that--it's a great arena for exploring a side of the characters we don't see much on-screen. In this one, Ronon offers to help train Elizabeth, in hopes of figuring out a little bit of what makes her tick underneath the surface. (Hence why I picked it for this prompt.) A fantastic, very much in character little snippet with a little Sheppard/Weir UST, a little Ronon/Teyla, and (I think despite the author's intentions) a little Ronon/Weir--incidentally the first fic I've ever read with the third that worked for me. *grin*

Title: Out of Time
Author: Lin
Characters: Elizabeth Weir, Kathryn Janeway, Rodney McKay, B'Elanna Torres, others
Prompt: 33. Crossover
Length: longish one parter
Brief summary: Crossover with Star Trek: Voyager: compares and contrasts Weir and Janeway's very different ways of handling very similar leadership roles using a one night stand between them as a focal point. I don't slash Weir, and I kinda lost track of Voyager halfway through its second season, but I love the character study here, the contrast between Weir's warmth and openness with her command crew and Janeway's deliberate self-isolation. Also, the story uses a narrative device that might be confusing at first, but once it unfolds it's incredibly cool. :-)

Title: Soldiering On
Author: [livejournal.com profile] medie
Characters: Elizabeth Weir, John Sheppard, OC
Prompt: 27. Original Character
Length: medium-length one-parter
Brief summary: On the surface, it's a simple what if: what if there had been a Tok'ra on the Atlantis team? But the story doesn't take long to dive much deeper, because this isn't just any Tok'ra, but a Tok'ra named Zara/Ayalah who is deeply in love with Colonel Marshall Sumner, and who loses her reason for coming to Atlantis within twenty-four hours of the city's habitation. But, that being said, the story is IMO more about Elizabeth getting an inkling, a preview if you will, of just what the dream is going to cost them all before the end, even more keenly than she did in the episode as it aired. And it's about her taking personal responsibility for every member of her team, even one whose presence she remains slightly dubious of.

Length: between 1000-2000 words, roughly
Brief summary: After her conversation with Halling in "The Siege, part I," Elizabeth talks to Sheppard about their decision to destroy Atlantis rather than let it--and the way to Earth--fall into Wraith hands. Something of a stretch for this prompt, but I think it fits because what the conversation comes around to is what saves them from being no better than the Genii, willing to sacrifice others to save themselves.

Title: "The Other Side of the Storm"

Characters: Elizabeth Weir, John Sheppard, Rodney McKay, Acastus Kolya, Sora, others
Prompt: 20. Non-con
Length: 14 chapters
Brief summary: John finds a quantum mirror somewhere in Atlantis, and stumbles onto a reality where the Genii succeeded in capturing the city. With the help of that reality's Weir and McKay as well as his own, they come up with a plan to reclaim it. The focus of the story is divided fairly equally between John, Elizabeth and Rodney, but there's enough emphasis on Elizabeth that I felt comfortable rec'ing it in this category. And since I don't read non-con as a general rule...this is probably the only thing I've ever read that *fits* this prompt, due the fact that the alternate reality Elizabeth is pretty much being "kept" by Kolya as a sex slave. What he doesn't know is that she's also in a relationship with--and very much in love with--that universe's Rodney McKay, a relationship that has kept them both alive through the worst of their captivity.
