Brief Summary: This is a pairing I don't support or even really understand (Ronon/Weir), and crossed over/fused with a universe I once tried to read and couldn't because I found it too disturbing, and yet I'm rec'ing it, so what does that tell you about the fic? *grin* I chose it for this prompt not so much because the story is dark (although some parts are), but because the universe it's set in is one that turns our usual paradigms regarding light and dark upside down--the good guys worship darkness. It's the story of a warrior Prince sold into slavery and redeemed by a Queen finally worthy of his loyalty and, eventually, love. The characters all manage to be recognizeable while still fitting seamlessly into this very different world, and something about that world makes it easier for me to countenance pairings that would probably totally turn me off in a more familiar context. Or maybe the author's just that good. ;-)

I also love fic with chess metaphors, even though I've never played the game (terrible of me, I know), because it works so *well* as a metaphor. And this one makes the metaphor work *very* well.

Like "Sober," this starts with a drink being served by new allies that turns out to be extraordinarily intoxicating and aphrodesiac: the difference is, this one also creates a telepathic link between John and Elizabeth, which, as you can imagine, makes the sex rather interesting. ;-)

Basically explores the potential subtext involved in the chair scene if Weir's blurted "Who is this?" had been a cover for her utter shock at seeing the last person she'd ever expected to need to involve in her expedition. Slightly AU--pretty much by the very nature of the story, it has to ignore Simon or at least presume the Weir/Simon relationship is much more recent than later episodes would imply--but intriguing and extremely well written. And yes, I know I've rec'ed a lot of medie's stuff, but I can't help it, she's *good*!

I don't slash Weir, and I kinda lost track of Voyager halfway through its second season, but I love the character study here, the contrast between Weir's warmth and openness with her command crew and Janeway's deliberate self-isolation. Also, the story uses a narrative device that might be confusing at first, but once it unfolds it's incredibly cool. :-)

Something of a stretch for this prompt, but I think it fits because what the conversation comes around to is what saves them from being no better than the Genii, willing to sacrifice others to save themselves.

Basically, an accident during a mission leaves Elizabeth telepathically linked with John Sheppard, and he's having a little too much fun embarrassing her with it so she decides to fight fire with fire. The result? An absolutely hilarious one-upmanship to see who has the dirtier mind.
