Characters: Stuart/Vince
Prompt: 16. Teamwork
Rating: NC-17
Length:Long
Brief summary: I had a really difficult time coming up with 'teamwork' so I decided to take a different tact. The S/V Yahoo group does RR from time to time, and this one was the first. It was a lot of run, and as you can see, this fic was the effort of 8 authors. The story centers around the boys coming back from the States, and each author gets to share a tale of their choosing. These are all fun and naughty stories, and its wonderful to see so many authors writing one big story. If you've not read much UK fic, you might enjoy getting a taste of different authors and this is a wonderful way to do it!

Title: To Rescue A Twat
Author: Addie [livejournal.com profile] rubydreamer
Characters: Stuart/Vince
Prompt: 17. Jealousy
Rating: NC-17
Length: Epic
Brief summary: If you ever wanted to know what a jealousy and determined Stuart would be like, read this story! Cameron and Vince live off to live in Australia, and Stuart finally swallows his pride and goes after Vince. I really like how hard Stuart fights for Vince, not to mention Cameron's tenacity at trying to win back Vince, before he finally comes to his senses. (Vince that is!) What I love about this story is that once the boys are together, they have so much fun. The sex is hot and sweet and real, and Addie has a real knack for writing them in fun situations. This is a great long read, and definitely one you can sink your teeth into. Highly recommended!

Title: Out of the Cocoon
Author: Neil Green
Characters: Stuart/Vince
Prompt: 18. Light
Rating: NC-17
Length:Long
Brief summary: Stuart and Vince head off into the sunset, so to speak. :) This is a great piece mostly about Vince, and how he just comes completely alive once they are gone. Through Stuart's eyes, we see his excitement and trepidation, but ultimately, his happiness at running off with Stuart. I really like the imagery of a butterfly coming out of its cocoon, and that's why I choose this story for 'light.'

Title: Hearts in Silver
Author: Ann Marie
Characters: Stuart/Vince
Prompt: 49. Reccer's Choice
Rating: G
Length: Medium
Brief summary: I picked this one for its holiday theme, plus the sweetness of the story. Ann Marie really knows how to write the boys young, and this was a wonderfully lovely story about how they got the matching bracelets they wear. I really enjoyed the tenderness throughout the story, as well as the fact that Stuart enjoys spending his Christmas with his real family, Vince and Hazel. A very enjoyable read, and a nice one especially for the holiday.

Author: Rosaleenban
Characters: Stuart/Vince
Prompt: 40. Confession
Rating: NC-17
Length:Long
Brief summary: A night of drinking leads to Stuart finally confessing his one regret. I like the way the author did this -- because I think its entirely plausible for Stuart to get completely pissed and admit flat out about regretting that he didn't get a chance to shag Vince when they were younger. I really like how they don't shag immediately, and that Vince assumes that Stuart is lying, or just being his usual self. A great read with some loving shagging to boot!

Title: Two Little Boys
Author: May
Characters: Stuart/Vince
Prompt: 45. Trapped
Rating: R
Length: Medium
Brief summary: I picked this story for this particular prompt because it really captures the emotional 'trapped' that Stuart and Vince operate under. They both know how they feel, but can't break out of their own worlds to face up to each other and be completely truthful. This story takes them from when they first meet, up until the present, the feelings still there, things always unsaid, but known. A great read.

Author: Cesare [livejournal.com profile] almostnever
Characters: Stuart/Vince
Prompt: 22. UST
Rating: NC-17
Length: Long

Brief summary: This story is nestled in with Cesare's 'Almost Never' series. I do believe it can stand on its own. And what a great read it is. She has a knack for them as teens, and this story to me, really represents a lot of the sexual tension we see in the series. The story centers around the unfinished wank that Stuart and Vince had, and adds a lot of wonderful plot surrounding them. Cesare is a real master at pulling off effortless fics, and this one just fits in so well with canon, that I wish we had this on screen. The bracelets make an appearance in this fic as well, and its done in such a brilliant way -- and you begin to see why they are so close.

There is a good dose of Hazel and Alex, not to mention a bit of sneaking around after they come back to Manchester. I love how Alex writes Hazel and Alex as well as the boys. Author: Paddy
Characters: Stuart/Vince
Prompt: 06. Anger
Rating: NC-17
Length: Medium
Brief summary: What I like about this story is that Paddy writes relationships so true to life. I picked this one specific for anger because of the second half of this story. It illustrates perfectly how people in relationships feel at times, how they are cruel and biting, without necessarily wanting to be -- they just are. The stress of real life, of the working day and of just being around someone all the time are wonderfully illustrated here. I think Paddy handles their relationship so well and so true to life. This story also has some wonderful non-angry parts as well.

Brief summary: Set post-series. Stuart and Vince head back home to visit. What is most interesting though, is what happens on the plane ride back to the states. It's the little details in this fic that make me love it so much: Vince listening to Doctor Who on cd, Stuart and Lisa's sniping at each other and of course, Vince's ability to read Stuart's mind and just 'get' him so well. Brief summary: A story set while Stuart is a Uni. We find out just why Stuart is so dead set against boyfriends. And why Vince is the only one that really matters. What I love about this story is Vince's messages, plus the way that Stuart resists the things he's feeling, and most of all, how he acts with a 'friend', much less a 'boyfriend.' Gives a lot of potential backstory for Stuart, which I love!

Note: I would highly recommend reading "Plans" before moving onto this story. Plans

Brief summary: What I like about this story is that Stuart is the on on the defensive for once, and he has to find Vince. Stuart does something shockingly bad, even for him, and Vince takes off with his credit cards. I picked this one specifically for Redemption because Stuart owns up to his actions and actually tries to fix things, giving Vince space and time -- and is rewarded with getting back the one thing he only ever wanted. A great read.

Characters: Stuart/Vince
Prompt: 02. AU
Rating: NC-17 (Eventually)
Length: Epic
Brief summary: The AU of the AU's. Shella took a very brave step and set Stuart/Vince in 75AD Roman-occupied Britiannia. Vincentius is a Roman soldier who is sent to Glevum to work. Acanthis is a Celt slave who catches Vincentius's eye. What I love about this story so very much is that she keeps the essence of each character there, even through they are so far removed from modern times. She is building up this WIP so well, giving us equal doses of angst, drama, and yes, naughtiness. At the same time, you really get the feel for the time, as well as the constraints that this relationship is under. She has taken her time to research and be as accurate as she can. What I really love about this story is that you feel like you are reading a book. The plot is well thought out and a real joy to read. This is a WIP; Shella writes at a fairly fast clip, so I don't hesitate to recommend this, even if you usually wait to read WIP's.

Brief summary: Leave it to Sue to do this wonderful crossover with QAFUK and Velvet Goldmine. What I enjoyed so much is that it was Vince that Curt went after here. I also love a jealous and worried Stuart, and we get that in full force. I think she also wrote Curt wonderfully in character, and gave us a scorcher of a sex scene between Stuart and Vince. Brief summary: What I love about these two conversations is the wonderful juxtaposition of ideas Shella uses. Vince waiting for his father to show up and spend time with him versus Stuart and Vince being involved in Alfie's life. In these two short drabbles, She shows how their lives have been shaped by their own experiences. A really lovely read, and I am a sucker for stories where they are helping raise Alfie as well. Brief summary: This is a very interesting AU, with Stuart as a famous actor. He and Vince were friends before he was discovered and lost touch as Stuart rose to stardom. However, Stuart is closeted, and hiding in many ways. He has sham marriages, and has a PR man who covers up anything gay. After Stuart divorces for a third time, he heads off to clear his head, and through some interesting twists, manages to meet up with Vince, who's Stuart's PR agent has hired to help Stuart with a book he wants to write.

The setting can't be beat, nor can the inclusion of Oscar Wilde in this story. I really like Vince's stand at Wilde's grave, not to mention how perfectly they just fit with the canon characters. What I enjoy so much is that I see Vince here already holding in the anger and the feelings that we see so clearly on his face in the series. Also, I love how Stuart is so insistent on making up with him after screwing up -- and not taking Vince's 'no' for an answer. It also shows a brilliant un-apology from Stuart, and most likely the start of the Doctor Who apology watching Stuart has had to endure for many years. Tia has a wonderful way with the boys, and it's in full force here. I love the way they are both catty, not to mention unable to actually break up or be away from each other for any length of time. And the reason for the break-up is great -- and totally believable. I love Vince here, because he actually admits he is co-dependent, and doesn't give a toss. Like so many real relationships out there. :)
