Title: The Ocean Into Sky
Author: [livejournal.com profile] vituperatist
Rating: NC-17
Length: Medium
Brief summary: L/Misa. This features an L that is more manipulative (even twisted) than what one typically sees in fic. I feel sad for Misa, but also for L - he's hollow in many ways. The description is wonderful, but not overbearing.

Title: A Subtle Kind
Author: [livejournal.com profile] ruriruri
Rating: PG-13

Brief summary: What if Misa and Matt switched places? I admit to being skeptical when linked to a Mello/Misa (and background Light/Matt) fic, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. There are some interesting parallels drawn between Misa and fanon!Matt.

Brief summary: So, I'm stretching the "taste" prompt and using the definition of "a person's appreciation of and liking for particular things." It fits this story, which explains why Jack chose the particular members of his Torchwood team.

The Phantom of the Opera Table

Claim: The Phantom of the Opera

Title: "Waiting"
Author: Kat097 (LJ?)
Rating: T
Length: medium
Brief summary: I love how this story is ambiguous as to what exactly is going on, then suddenly, the whole thing makes sense. A successful morbid/horror fic. Also, ignore some of the author's notes; I think she's being overly cautious. ;)

Title: "Night of the Living Wife"
Author: Toad (LJ?)
Rating: unrated
Length: short
Brief summary: This was another story written for one of PhansOnline.net's Morbidity Contests, and I thought it was the best of that round. I don't like schmoopy Erik--and Erik "date-raping" Christine seemed perfectly in-character for me, especially considering his off-kilter ideas of male-female relationships and his control issues. Needless to say, given the plot, this fic caused a large amount of controversy on that board.
I thought the difference between this and the usual "Erik gets laid" fic is that Erik having sex with Christine is *not* presented as a good thing. He is taking away her self-control for his own nefarious purposes--and that is *wrong*. It's twisted and sick of Erik and no different, morally, than if he had physically restrained her. Only Erik's sense of morality is so screwed up that he can't see what's wrong in this, as long as Christine *appears* to be enjoying it.

Claim: The Professionals ~ Bodie/Doyle
Title: Transients
Author: Helen Raven
Prompt: 41: Guilt
Rating: NC-17
Length: Long
Brief summary: Another one of my early readings. An AU. Bodie was, untill recently, in CI5. Doyle's a cop turned massage therapist, who's attraction towards his new client and friend makes him feel extremely guilty. Love this one. Great plot, great pace, I especially like how the mutual attraction is not immediate.

This is the most difficult prompt ever. I went with this story because there's a lot of food-talk. It's really great, Doyle being all grumpy because of Christmas, there's reminiscence and sexy-time, it's really sweet and funny.

Yesterday's episode ("Further Instructions") made me happy for many reasons. One of them inspired today's theme: Desmond David Hume.

Claim: Lost: General Series
Prompt: 23 - Time
Title: And Give You Peace
Author: [livejournal.com profile] achipiquonque
Rating: PG
Length: Medium
Brief summary: Yet another Desmond&Kelvin fic written before we ever actually saw Kelvin onscreen, but the hatchmates are so wonderfully, evocatively written here; Desmond, normal and still rooted in the "real" world but beginning to slip in the closed-off routine of the Swan; Kelvin, long since insane. A somewhat average day in their lives, almost fluffy until it reaches an ending that is terrifying in its casual darkness.

Brief summary: It's a road trip fic, if by "road trip" you really mean "traveling through space in a puddlejumper," complete with silly games and threats to turn the car around and the inevitable, "Are we there yet?" It's a great moment in time piece that shows us another side of life on Atlantis when a multitude of crises aren't imminent. The author subtly adds some very poignant moments, making this a weighty read disguised as humor.

Title: Rodney and Cadman Go Down
Author: [livejournal.com profile] kormantic
Rating: NC-17
Length: Medium
Brief summary: Well, it's precisely what the title says: a fun bit of McKay/Cadman Duet aftermath (with a dash of McKay/Sheppard) that's weird enough to be worthy of Rodney. There's capture and torture, if by "torture" you mean "four star hotel accommodations" and then the cavalry shows up, only the rescuees are naked and not really in need of rescuing at this precise moment, thank you very much. And I love this Cadman, brave and silly and so very much alive. This is just the kind of post-Duet fic you've been wanting to read.
