Claim: Stargate Atlantis: Elizabeth Weir
Title: Jack of Spades
Author: Domenika Marzione
Characters: Elizabeth Weir, John Sheppard, Rodney McKay, others
Prompt: 31. Discovery
Length: 1077 words (nice of the author to include that info, huh? ;-) )
Brief Summary: A short, different but disturbingly plausible take on the aftermath of "The Storm" and "The Eye"--Elizabeth realizes how little she ever really knew John at all, and the barrier her new knowledge has erected between them even as it brought her and McKay closer. The part of me that's a Sheppard/Weir 'shipper has a gut aversion to this sort of an outcome for the episode, but it makes sense: Weir is, first and foremost, a peacemaker who values life above all else, and this episode would have brought home in a harsh way that whether she--or he--likes it or not, John Sheppard is a soldier and by extension a killer. Thought-provoking and disturbing, but in a good way.
