Everyone shines, everyone is utterly themselves, and John here is only one of the others, but River sees into his head, into the city in his head, and she knows him—and so does the author.

Why You Should Read It: Vala MalDoran is a thorn in Daniel's side. She fascinates him but frustrates him to no end. They bicker constantly and I take a bit of sadistic glee with ever snipe uttered. They also have a bit of a spark between them that is quite enjoyable. Julie takes that frustrated fascination to the forefront and uses wonderful language to describe all that Daniel thinks of Vala. It's a marvelous story and though she calls it a PWP I see the plot with no trouble.

Brief summary: What I like about this story is that Stuart is the on on the defensive for once, and he has to find Vince. Stuart does something shockingly bad, even for him, and Vince takes off with his credit cards. I picked this one specifically for Redemption because Stuart owns up to his actions and actually tries to fix things, giving Vince space and time -- and is rewarded with getting back the one thing he only ever wanted. A great read.
