The Big Ol' Table
Claim: Stargate SG-1: Daniel Jackson
Title: Lost in a Kiss
Author: [livejournal.com profile] smb814
Characters: Daniel Jackson, Janet Fraiser
Prompt: 28. Dream
Rating: PG
Length: Medium
Brief Summary: A song, a dream, an obsession...a mission.
Why You Should Read It: This is one of the absolute best Daniel/Janet stories on the web. The author weaves the story around a wonderful song, one I'd recommend to almost anyone. Without putting Daniel & Janet in a life threatening situation, the author lets us see the characters, relaxed and enjoying themselves. It's a lovely look into a very special moment in thier lives.

Title: Queer Eye for the Stargate Guy
Author: SaraC
Characters: Daniel Jackson, SG-1, Janet, Queer Eye guys
Prompt: 46. Reccer's Choice
Rating: PG
Length: Medium, 30 pages.
Brief Summary: Daniel wants to get Janet's attention, the guys from Queer Eye are there to help!
Why You Should Read It: This is just a cute crossover. Yes, it's more than a little out of character for Daniel to submit himself to something like a reality show, but aside from that it's just fun. The author gets Carson's voice and you can't help but giggle at the way the Guys deal with Daniel, or thier observations during his "reveal".

Characters: Daniel Jackson
Prompt: 19. Dark
Rating: PG-13
Length: Medium, 92KB
Brief Summary: SG-1 is captured by aliens and are forced to watch as Daniel is
subjected to unknown tests.
Why You Should Read It: I don't usually do an excerpt but this time, I think I'll let
the fic speak for itself.

Title: A Light in the Darkness
Author: Babs
Characters: Daniel Jackson
Prompt: 18. Light
Rating: PG
Length: Short, 23KB
Brief Summary: Teal'c realizes some things about Daniel Jackson.
Why You Should Read It: Teal'c is one interesting character. His friendship with
Daniel should be an impossibility but instead it's deep, strong, and enfused with respect.
Babs brings this friendship across perfectly and shows just how Teal'c feels about Daniel.

Claim: Stargate SG-1: Daniel Jackson
Title: Variegated Grey
Author:PhoenixE
Characters: Daniel Jackson
Prompt: 44. Mask
Rating: R
Length: Long, 4 seperate webpages for easy loading/reading
Brief Summary: Shades of Grey from the persepective of one of the members of SG-1 who
was left in the dark.
Why You Should Read It: I didn't care for "Shades of Grey", thus I jumped into
PhoenixE's retelling gladly. The story didn't play out very well on the TV screen for me,
but on the computer screen we can see into the characters thoughts and that makes it so much
better. Almost forgot, this is a slash fic.

Claim: Stargate SG-1: Daniel Jackson
Title: Desert Son
Author: Roxie
Characters: Daniel Jackson, SG-1
Prompt: 23. Time
Rating: PG
Length: Long, 430KB
Brief Summary: Daniel is drawn in to the strange politics of a world waiting to be
relocated to a better place. Is the price to help them too high
Why You Should Read It: Daniel is almost always getting roped into local issues when
he visits a new planet...the odd thing is, on this planet they've been expecting him. The
situation isn't getting any better for the planet's inhabitants and Daniel & the rest of SG
-1 only have a limited amount of time before nothing they do will help. Roxie weaves a
wonderfully detailed team-story that deals with politics, action, and of course a bit of
Daniel-whumping for good measure.

Da Rec Table

Claim: Stargate SG-1: Daniel Jackson
Title: Two for the Price of One
Author: Devra
Characters: Daniel Jackson, Teal'c, Jack O'Neill
Prompt: 06. Anger
Rating: PG
Length: short, (about 20pgs.)
Brief Summary: After the events of Season 8's Avatar, Daniel & Teal'c have the chance to clear the air a bit while stuck in the Infirmary.
Why You Should Read It: Devra rocks. She captures the characters' voices so well and her use of Teal'c's anger, and Daniel's defensiveness works perfectly. Warning for non graphic slash.
Link: Two for the Price of One

Title: Voices Carry
Author: Devra
Characters: Daniel Jackson, Jack O'Neill
Prompt: 17. Jealousy, 37. Make-up
Rating: R
Length: Long, about 200K
Brief Summary: Daniel's stuck somewhere between life, death and Ascension.
Why You Should Read It: Once again Devra strikes just the right chord. There's jealousy, yes, but there's also understanding, remorse, and resolution. This was an excellent way to pick up after Reckoning Part 2. Oh, duh, I almost forgot...this is slash, not graphic, but at the heart of it is Jack/Daniel.

Ye Ol' Rec Table
Claim: Stargate SG-1: Daniel Jackson
Title: Quid Pro Quo
Author: Autumnglory
Characters: Daniel Jackson, Sam Carter
Prompt: 38. Betrayal, 43. Denial
Rating: PG
Length: Short
Brief Summary: How do you deal with your best friend after going mind-to-mind with her double?
Why You Should Read It: When I first started in the SG-1 fandom I thought I saw sparkage between Sam & Daniel. In truth I just loved watching the Science Twins work. The friendship between Sam & Daniel can be so good, and Autumnglory brings that friendship to the forefront. She also brings the sparkage back as well. Now, if you haven't seen Reckoning parts 1 & 2 from Season 8 this story might not make as much sense. But why is this a betrayal & denial story? Denial's easy to see once you start reading, betrayal...well, that's my take on it. Daniel sees the inadvertant invasion of privacy (read the story, it'll make sense) as a betrayal of friendship.

Title: Out & About series
Author: Dangermouse
Characters: Daniel Jackson, Jack O'Neill, SGC
Prompt: 13. Established Relationship, 25. Kink
Rating: R
Length: medium, 1st in this series about 65K (the whole series is quite long)
Brief Summary: Daniel & Jack are together, happy, and out of the closet. Will the SGC EVER be the same?
Why You Should Read It: I love Dangermouse's fics. Her portrayal of Jack & Daniel as a long term couple is wonderful. They fight, they make up, they make out, they love each other. Their relationship isn't just about sex (though the sex in the stories is wonderful). Out & About begins the second series in the Coming Out universe. I recommend reading the first series, Coming Out, before you move on to Out & About. All the stories are great. Along the way you'll find humor, angst, h/c, a little light kinkiness, and of course action of all kinds.

The Big Ol' Table

Claim: Stargate SG-1: Daniel Jackson
Title: Lucky
Author: Julie Fortune
Characters: Daniel Jackson, Vala MalDoran
Prompt: 05. Sex
Rating: NC-17
Length: Short (about 8000 words)
Brief Summary: Daniel and Vala are trapped in a dangerous city where women are either property, or hunted and Vala's relentless teasing finally sparks a desperate response. But getting lucky is a treacherous thing ...
Why You Should Read It: Vala MalDoran is a thorn in Daniel's side. She fascinates him but frustrates him to no end. They bicker constantly and I take a bit of sadistic glee with ever snipe uttered. They also have a bit of a spark between them that is quite enjoyable. Julie takes that frustrated fascination to the forefront and uses wonderful language to describe all that Daniel thinks of Vala. It's a marvelous story and though she calls it a PWP I see the plot with no trouble.

Author: Lady Anne
Characters: Daniel Jackson, SG-1
Prompt: 34. Vacation
Rating: PG
Length: Short
Brief Summary: After a few rough missions, SG-1 retreats to Jack's cabin to recuperate.
Why You Should Read It: You just can't beat the team bonding after a rough mission. But with Daniel Jackson bonding is never as relaxing as it should be. The friendship is clearly evident in every section of this fic. So enjoy!

Title: Blood Tide
Author: Sunrise
Characters: Daniel Jackson, Jack O'Neill
Prompt: 15. Crack!Fic
Rating: PG
Length: Medium, 45 pages
Brief Summary: Daniel goes off-world and gets sick.
Why You Should Read It: In the SG-1 fandom it seems like Daniel-Whumping is crack. Almost everyone loves it, almost every writer writes it. Daniel getting sick and cared for by Jack is a favored plotline and Sunrise uses this base plot well. You get to see how Daniel & Jack's friendship is strengthened and see some of the differences as well as the similarities to thier friendship & behaivor from before Daniel ascended. It's worth a read!

Author: Debi C.
Characters: Daniel Jackson, Ardeth Bay
Prompt: 33. Crossover
Rating: G
Length: Medium
Brief Summary: A Crossover between "The Mummy" & Stargate, the Jacksons are in danger of losing Daniel forever.
Why You Should Read It: First off, Debi C. is a fabulous writer. Her Windows in Time series allows us a glimpse of Daniel's life before the Stargate Program. In this one he meets a desert hero. This tale fits both universes wonderfully.

Title: The Right Choice
Author: [livejournal.com profile] dmlunsford
Characters: Daniel Jackson, Janet Fraser
Prompt: 04. Fluff
Rating: G
Length: Medium
Brief Summary: When Janet invites Daniel to Thanksgiving Dinner she wonders if it was such a good idea after all.
Why You Should Read It: Daniel & Janet make a lovely couple. If I can't have Daniel & Sha're I want Daniel & Janet. She's a strong woman that can match Daniel's stubborness. She sees him for who he is rather than just his accomplishments. This fic brings all that to light as well as gives us a look into the light hearted side of Janet and Daniel. What more could you want?

Title: Longing for Home
Author: [livejournal.com profile] meg_tdj
Characters: Daniel Jackson, Sha're, SG-1
Prompt: 07. Love
Rating: PG
Length: Long, 168kb
Brief Summary: How would things have been different if Sha're had been pregnant at the time that Apophis came to Abydos? A little glimpse of an AU where Daniel and Sha're got their happily-ever-after.
Why You Should Read It: In the interest of full disclosure I will say that Meg wrote this for me. But that's really beside the point. Daniel/Sha're is the most cannon of all ships in the SG-1 fandom (in my not so humble opinion), but theirs is a tragic tale and I wanted a happy ending! Meg gave me one that was quite plausible and she did it with her usual aplomb. Angst, humor, romance, it's all here for your enjoyment.

Title: Achieving Grace
Author: [livejournal.com profile] moonshayde
Characters: Daniel Jackson, Sam Carter
Prompt: 08. Friendship
Rating: PG
Length: Medium - 26pgs.
Brief Summary: Sam and Daniel discuss her ordeal on the Prometheus while they tackle the negative and embrace the positive aspects of their friendship.
Why You Should Read It: Once again Moonshayde captures the voices of SG-1 with apparent ease. She gives us a portrayal of Sam that resonates with strength and just a bit of confusion/social awkwardness that fits the plot of the story perfectly. This is one of the best Sam/Daniel friendship stories I've read in a long while. It truly fits with the spirit of Season 7 SG-1.

Title: First Impressions
Author: DietCokeChic
Characters: Daniel Jackson, OC
Prompt: 27. Original Character
Rating: G
Length: Short
Brief Summary: Life as seen through the eyes of Daniel's Barista.
Why You Should Read It: This is an ongoing series of episode tags from Daniel's Barista's point of view. The author is currently writing in Season 5, but the story I'm reccing is the first one, set during Season 1's 'Children of the Gods'. Kira, Daniel's Barista, is an excellent character, one who develops throughout the series and becomes a true friend to Daniel.

Title:Cocidian
Author: brihana25
Characters: Daniel Jackson, SG-1
Prompt: 16. Teamwork
Rating: PG-13
Length:75 pgs in Word
Brief Summary: It is December 21. SG-1 are held captive offworld - with one of their own seriously ill, and no hope of being rescued in time. Will they all make it back to the SGC? Or will they watch a friend die a million light-years from home?
Why You Should Read It: A new fic about the original team, and how they all work together to make sure one of thier own makes it home. This one was in one of AshtonPress's fanzines, and Ashton is meticulous when it comes to editing, so you know this story is top-notch. I've never been disappointed by a story out of the Redemption series of fanzines so I wasn't surprised when I found the writing to be excellent. The author captures SG-1's individual voices and team spirit perfectly.

Rating:PG
Length: Long, 125pgs.
Brief Summary: Powerful forces are manipulating events to change history itself. Can Daniel and his family survive the onslaught or will they be destroyed?
Why You Should Read It: The sequel to Tiv'ester's fantastic "Battle Royal" which I recc'ed not too long ago. It's simply a wonderful fic. Anything by Tiv is worthy of reading!

The Big Ol' Table

Title:Duality
Author: [livejournal.com profile] moonshayde
Characters: Daniel Jackson, SG-1
Prompt: 03. Angst
Rating:PG-13
Length:Long, 18 chapters (including epilogue)
Brief Summary:On P9R-139, SG-11 and SG-17 make startling discoveries into the mysteries of the cult of Thoth only to have it cut short by a surprise invasion by Anubis. When SG-1, SG-19, and SG-13 come in to help with the evacuation, and lead the scientists back through the Gate, they quickly learn they might have brought back more than just knowledge concerning Thoth and may be unable to undo the transformation that has already begun.
Why You Should Read It: OK, I love the premise of this fic. It is so subtly manipulative, you quite simply can't tear your eyes away from this one. Moonshayde is an excellent writer and this one is one of her best.

Brief Summary:Jack & Daniel let go of the difficulties of the past and choose to move on with thier deepening relationship together.
Why You Should Read It:Ok, this is the second in a wonderful series and the first SG-1 slash fic I ever read. Love it. It's filled with humor, comfort, a bit of angst (but not too much), and some vague but no less stimulating sex scenes.

Title:Eurydice Ascending
Author:Kiki
Characters: Daniel Jackson, Sha'uri, SG-1
Prompt:02. AU
Rating:PG-13/R
Length:medium, 60 pages in Word
Brief Summary:An alternate universe ending to Season 3's "Forever in a Day". Sha'uri's alive, but she and Daniel's problems aren't over yet. It'll take Sam, Daniel, and maybe the entire SGC to make sure Sha'uri gets the chance to save herself.
Why You Should Read It:I'm an unrepentant Daniel shipper. I ship him with almost anyone, but the best and truest pairing is Daniel/Sha'uri (or Sha're depending upon which spelling you prefer). Kiki gives us a completely plausible way for Sha'uri to survive Forever in a Day and gives us a glimpse into what could be a happy ending for this lovely couple. The way the SGC bands together for one of thier own is just perfect, shows a true sense of unity among the command.

Why You Should Read It: This is a wonderful story that gives a glimpse into Daniel's large heart & his place on the SG-1 Team. It's so good it won awards in the 2005 SG-1 Fanfic awards.

Why You Should Read It:Love this story. Love it! Tivester shows you just what Daniel's made of, how he's respected and loved, and what type of a leader he can be in this story. And it's got some nifty traditional weapons & military ordinance too.

Title: Katsuo
Author: Brionhet
Characters: Daniel Jackson, OC
Prompt:10. Fandom Cliche
Rating: G
Length:Medium (about 36K)
Brief Summary:This is the story of Daniel's guitar.
Why You Should Read It: Daniel's guitar? Yes, though Daniel Jackson is never portrayed on the show as a musician Brionhet takes you into a world that makes it entirely believable that Daniel would have a talen for music. This story is beautifully written, and Katsuo is a character that you come to respect rather quickly. Hard to choose a prompt for this one honestly, but it does have a cliche so that's the one I'll pick. The fandom cliche used in this fic is that Daniel is painfully shy, but it's done in such a way that it doesn't make you roll your eyes or think that Daniel is a wuss (which is also a fandom cliche).

Brief Summary:Daniel reconnects with old friends...more like family.
Why You Should Read It: First off, this is slash with Jack & Daniel in a long term relationship that has seen some serious bumps and bruises along the way. By this point in thier relationship they have few secrets from one and other, but Daniel shares one of his most cherished secrets with Jack by taking him to meet his old friends that are more like family than anything else. Title: Dammit Daniel!
Author: Jmas
Characters: Daniel & Jack O'Neill
Prompt: #09-Hurt & Comfort
Rating: PG
Length: Short (13k)
Brief summary: Jack's thinking and Daniel's whumped (a common occurance).
Why you should read it: This story is set mid-Season 2(ish) of Stargate, and Jmas capture's Jack's voice perfectly. He's got a sarcastic sense of humor that shines through but doesn't completely eclipse the concern he has for his people. Jmas also nail's early Daniel's innate curiousity that always and I do mean Always got him into trouble. I used this one for my H/C rec, but as with all fics this one is so much more than just an H/C story. It's also got some great humor and angsting as well as shows the deep respect the members of SG-1 have for thier resident trouble-magnet (that'd be Daniel).
Dammit, Daniel!

Title: Commanding Daniel & Commanding Daniel: A Rebuttal
Author: Biblio & PhoenixE
Characters: Jack O'Neill, Daniel Jackson
Prompt: #12-Humor
Rating: PG-13
Length: Short (Together 24K)
Brief Summary: Jack sends out a memo about how to handle Dr. Jackson, and the good
doctor responds.
Why you should read it: First a warning, these have just a hint of slash (though if you don't read slash then you really don't notice it. I certainly didn't when I first read them).Second, this is a two for the price of one rec. They go hand in hand and are much funnier read together. Commanding Daniel is a halarious look at the way Col. O'Neill and the other two members of SG-1 see their wayward Archeologist. Daniel's Rebuttal is a wonderful peak into Daniel's fiesty, prickly nature. Daniel is an absolutely wonderful character, and these two fics, are fantasticly funny & give a great deal of insight into Daniel's personality, quirks and all.
