"Precisely. Who would want to play at cards with a man who carries the logarithm tables around with him in his head? Thank you," Archie said then, directed to the potman, who clunked two tankards of ale down before the sailors and muttered his own thanks when Archie deposited a few coins into his outstretched palm. "This is the same thing."
"I don't quite see what arm-wrestling has to do with cards," Horatio said. "One is a matter of skill. This seems like outright dissembling."
"Of course it is!" Archie said. "But my aunts and grams have been pinching my cheeks and calling me pretty since I was a boy, and if those fool dockers don't look past it, then who is at fault, hm?"
