On the show, Sawyer and Hurley don't get many occasions to interact, but this fic builds nicely on the jokey, borderline insulting banter they had when Hurley asked him for the manifest. Here, they play cards and argue and give every appearance of actually being friends.

These ficlets can be read separately, but together they're incredibly moving and offer a welcome fresh take on the eternal Jack/Kate/Sawyer triangle.

In this fic, James tries to find out how Jack got a mysterious bruise on his face and Jack clams up. We know that James still has his own terrible secrets (which is dealt with in a later fic), so he doesn't want to push, but when they're forced to spend the night together on a school trip, the truth comes out. Lovely and lump-in-the-throat sad, as these two try to navigate between trust and fear and longing.

This fic is a real turning point in the 'verse; it raises the stakes to an intense new level and shows how much they really do mean to each other.

Brief summary: When Jack and Kate finally get together, Sawyer shows up, and then things take a very interesting turn. Not only is this extremely hot smut, but it was the first Lost OT3 fic I read and started me on my own path to smut writing. This triangle fascinates me because these characters have so many trust issues and the power balance keeps shifting. This one, in particular, delivers quite a sting at the end. Excellent, dead-on characterization and porn. What more can you ask for?

Brief summary: Since Sawyer and Kate played that drinking game of "I Never" in "Outlaws," we've seen dozens of drinking fics. Actually, there were already dozens of drinking fics, because of course being drunk paves the way for all kinds of smut that these characters wouldn't normally engage in, but now we have the added "truth or dare" angle, especially with the challenge of "I never kissed a man." This is one of my favorites because it's hot and funny, and even if it's a cliché by now, it's a damn good read.
