Brief summary:
This is a very violent and very amazing AU that still maintains the magical Hogwartian setting. Its structure, theme and basic plot derive from a great British gangster flick named “Gangster No. 1”, starring David Thewlis (in the same role Remus serves in this version) and Paul Bettany/Malcolm McDowell (in the same role that Sirius is in this one.)

It’s violent, heart-wrenching, eerie and oddly fun. The plot is involved, but unimportant. The reason why I keep reading and rereading this has nothing to do with the story, but rather with the fantastic language and completely amazingly good first person voice they have for Sirius Black. All should read.

This fic, like Gryffindor No. 1, has a very good Remus characterization, but is, nevertheless, totally focused on Sirius. In other fandoms, this fic would be considered only for the ship, but the character of Sirius Black is the important part of the pairing here. It explores his emotion and his problems with the relationship and is written from his point of view. This story covers from Sirius’ and Remus’ first meeting to when it all starts to fall apart, subverting the normal fluffy happy portrayal of the MWPP era for something more aggressive. Read this fic for the fantastic dialogue, if nothing else, but you have a lot of other reasons to read it.
