Claim:*NSYNC, JC Chasez
Title: when the room is quiet

Author: halo ([livejournal.com profile] jchalo and at Idol Hands)
Characters: JC Chasez, OC
Prompt: 27. Original character
Rating: PG-13
Length: short (833 words)
Summary: How does one get one's start in the music business? To say anything more would spoil it.

"I've seen you before," he says softly, suddenly, and you jump a little, not expecting those words at all. "You're at nearly all my shows, aren't you?"

"yes."

"Yes." He sounds faraway, even though he's right there. Lost inside his head and, I could be anyone, you think. I could be anyone, but I'm not.

"So you like the music, at least."

"yes." It's all you seem to be able to say, and all you probably should say, because the next words slip out before you can stop them. "I want to be a singer, too."

He looks up at you sharply, something huge and dark flickering behind his eyes for a split-second, before it's gone again, just as quickly. "Of course you do," he says quietly, absently, unbuttoning the cuffs of the pale silk shirt he’s wearing.

And I will be, you think fiercely, snapping your teeth closed, because it's not the time or the place, and both of you are smart enough to know exactly why you’re here.

Claim:*NSYNC, JC Chasez
Title: Vicarious

Author: tenebrio ([livejournal.com profile] tenebrio and her writing in her public fic journal, [livejournal.com profile] blue_moon_fic)
Characters:JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Justin Timberlake
Prompt: 10. Fandom cliché
Rating: PG
Length: short (432 words)
Summary: There are a ton of fandom clichés about JC – he's a kitten, he's soft and sweet, he's spacey, he's easily taken advantage of, he puts everyone ahead of himself, he's a lover, not a fighter, etc. etc. etc. This ficlet looks at those clichés through the eyes of the other *NSYNC guys and turns each of them on their heads with the last line. It's short and sharp and perfect, and makes you think twice about JC. Because what if that is what he's been thinking all along?

Joey worries that Justin's taking advantage of JC, however unintentionally. Justin's self-belief is a wonder to behold, while JC never seems to appreciate his own talents. Joey knows without a doubt that JC will sacrifice his own chances in a second if Justin asks him to. Hell, he wouldn't even have to ask: just look at the way the single releases went. It would never even occur to Justin that JC - or anyone - would do anything not in their own best interests.
