Claim: Firefly: Jayne Cobb
Title: Tetchy
Author: Debchan
Characters: Jayne/Simon, cast
Prompt: Humor
Rating: NC-17
Length: Long
Brief summary: Jayne/Simon lends itself well to many genres, but I think its strongest one is humor. This story captures both voices perfectly and makes me giggle. Also the sex is hot and that's always good times. A game of one-upmanship spirals out of control much to Simon's irritation.

Jayne, apparently, didn't understand the concept of even. Simon discovered that when he sat at his desk, and after checking the Cortex, found himself unable to part company with the chair. After an hour of silent struggling, he finally had to comm Kaylee and ask for help.

"Epoxy," she said through lips trembling against a smile. "We use it for small hull patches where we can't weld. I have some solvent that should take care of it. Be right back."

The solvent ate through his pants and left his buttocks and the backs of his legs an angry red.

"It's Jayne's way," Kaylee said as he stood. She politely averted her eyes when he backed away and added, "He doesn't mean any harm. He was just raised by baboons and thinks stuff like this is…funny."

Funny. Simon felt a stiff, unnatural smile curl up the corners of his mouth. "Funny. I see."

Title: Big Damn Zombies, Sir
Author: Shrift
Characters: Cast
Prompt: Crack!Fic
Rating: PG-13
Length: Long
Brief summary: Jayne is a zombie. And really it doesn't change how he interacts with the crew all that much.

"Jayne's been zombified," Kaylee said brightly.

Simon looked like someone who'd accidentally sat his ass down on a plate of fresh bao. "Pardon?"

"Jayne," Wash said, gesturing toward the man who was currently lumbering their way. "He's been zombified." Jayne clumsily reached out for him and Wash ducked behind Zoe, yelling, "Hey! Stop staring at my medulla oblongata, pal."

"I'm... missing something," Simon said.

Mal gave his shoulder a hearty smack. "You ain't the only one. Seems Jayne here got himself zombified while he was in town."

Simon raised his hands in a gentlemanly little show of frustration. "Will everyone please stop using that word?!"

"What," Wash said innocently. "Zombified?"

Jayne finally stopped lunging at people and retreated to a corner of the kitchen, hugging Vera like a big, creepy, undead kid-thing. "Braaaiiins."

Mal grinned. "Well, Simon, looks like we finally got a body on our crew that's more morbid and creepifying than your sister."

Simon grimaced. "Oh happy day."
