Brief summary: “Pressure is added to Sir Integra to produce a heir to Hellsing.” A great genfic regarding Integral’s fear for Alucard’s schemes (and possible support to Richard, who survived in the story) made her consider artificial insemination. Mostly based in the Anime.

Claim: Stargate Atlantis: John Sheppard/Rodney McKay
Title: swap/meet
Author: rosemending ([livejournal.com profile] rosemending)
Characters: Sheppard/McKay
Prompt: 15 - Crack!fic
Rating: Mature
Length: short
Brief summary: Hmm. Rather than go for the high-brow stuff, I went for the crackiest crack!fic I could find. Nothing rational and reasonable like wings or tails or unicorns, or favorite fannish cliches like waking up in the wrong body or with the wrong gender, or alternate dimension versions of a character having sex with each other. No, no, no. Too tame, I say. Let's get something that's really out there, yet bizarrely hooked into canon, and is a heck of a lot of fun.

So, swap/meet. Because nothing says crack!fic like a wandering penis story.

Title: Online (or: Four Ads that Lisa Cuddy Didn't Answer and One She Did)
Author: Laura Smith
Characters: Cuddy, Wilson, Chase, Foreman, House
Prompt: 29.Oops
Rating: PG-13
Length: short
Brief summary: Cuddy is an underused and (in my opinion) often poorly written character in House fandom. In this she is neither, and the fic manages to express a lot in very little space. Also? Funny.

Title: Shepherd's Pie
Author: Cincoflex
Characters: Chase, Cameron
Prompt: 25.Kink
Rating: NC-17
Length: long
Brief summary: I am not generally a fan of Chase/Cameron, nor of straight-up porn. But this is about as good as it gets with either, and with a bonus- well-done BDSM, which is almost ALWAYS mangled in fandom.

Title: Five Moments of Truth and Trust
Author: Winter Baby ([livejournal.com profile] winter_baby)
Characters: Marita Covarrubias/Alex Krycek
Prompt: 10. Fandom Cliche
Rating: R
Length: 1000+
Brief Summary: The "five things that never happened" genre has become a fandom cliche over the years, but somehow the execution has a miraculous way of staying fresh. This one, however, was written when the concept was pretty fresh too. It was one of the first--if not the first--five things stories I ever read (I'm not sure, but part of me thinks the Harem of X-Files Other Women Defenders might've been where the idea originated, I don't remember), and remains one of the best. Basically it takes five pivotal moments in Alex and Marita's relationship, and rewrites them as they might have happened had they trusted each other or been honest with each other. Hence the title. *grin* What makes it work so beautifully is how it makes you ache for what might have been. Not all of them are happy endings--not all of them ever could be--but they fit. Oh do they fit.

Title: No Greater Love
Author: Karen Rasch
Characters: Fox Mulder/Dana Scully, others
Prompt: 07. Love
Rating: R
Length: novel
Brief Summary: Investigation into some mysterious deaths surrounding a faith healer raise questions about Mulder and Scully's relationship and their respective spirituality. Now, I'll be honest--I'm a Christian, so I tend to be drawn to stories (original or fanfic) that ask the big questions. One of the things that keeps me coming back to this one long after I gave up my 'Shipper membership card is that it does so in a balanced, realistic way, never coming down too hard on either side of the spiritual fence and treating Christian, atheist, and unsure characters with equal respect. I chose it for this prompt not just because of the title but because ultimately it's about love--not just the love the author sees between the protagonists, but love of God, love of mankind, and most importantly, what does love motivate us to do for each other? Honestly, if the MSR had been treated this way on the show, I might still be a 'Shipper. *grin*

Claim: due South, Fraser/Kowalski
Title: Better
Author: Kass Rachel, on LJ [livejournal.com profile] kassrachel
Characters: Fraser, Ray
Prompt: 19. Dark
Rating: G
Length: short
Brief summary: This is a tiny little fic that I recalled from the first time I read it, and wanted to rec it somewhere here. The basic premise is that Ray and Fraser are living together in Canada, and Ray is sick in the summer, when there is light almost all day. Fraser does something to help. This is just a beautiful, simple piece that really gets across how much these two love each other. The images in this are just beautiful, and Ray’s voice is perfect. Much love.

Title: A Dare’s a Dare
Author: Speranza, on LJ [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza
Characters: Fraser, Ray, Miss Fraser (!)
Prompt: 44. Mask
Rating: NC-17
Length: medium
Brief summary: Another on the Speranza hit parade. Don’t worry, there will be more. This is a really well-written excuse to get Fraser back in drag, and a whole lot more. Ray kindly picks up Fraser’s dry cleaning, and in putting in his closet, discovers a dress. So, he dares Fraser to dress in drag, and Fraser agrees if Ray will take him out to dinner in return. Ray does, and much debauchery ensues. It’s pretty much worth it for the reminder of how freaking hot Fraser looked in the serge and makeup and earrings in “Some Like It Red.” Come for that, stay for the really well-written exploration of Ray and Fraser’s feelings for each other behind the pretense of being just another straight couple going out on a date. And all hail Speranza.
