Brief summary: It's been two years since Janet died, and Sam has taken a posting to Atlantis. One of the things that I liked about this was all of the possibilities and potentials that exist in the Sam/Teyla relationship. They are both the only women on the premier team in their respective universes (SG-1 and SGA), both leaders that could have had command roles -- but chose not to.

And both women can kick ass.

This is very much a farewell to Janet story, but there are hints of how the relationship between Teyla and Sam built that I really enjoy. It's a throw-away line, not even a scene actually in the story, but one of my favorite images from this is Sam and Teyla at weapons practice together. Sam gets just a kick out of showing off her skills with a P90, and I'm sure Teyla would appreciate it.

Brief summary: This story was written back at the beginning of S1, and yet, it works for S2, S3, even S4, as Jack continues to wear his wedding ring. The conflicting notions of being unhappy, but not admitting defeat -- the idea that Jack clings to this idea of marriage and sees its dissolution as a personal failure is something that has been explored throughout the series. Samantha joining the conversation gives the story a distinctly S1 feel, but take away her presence, and this could be Jack at any point during the four years of his life on the show.
