Brief summary: Forsythia blooms and fades.  I couldn't decide whether this story should qualify as a make-up or break-up prompt.  I settled on break-up because the sense of loss is present throughout the story.  Charles and Eric are doomed to repeat the same cycle of loss over and over again.  What draws me in the fic is Eric's grief over Jean's death, the idea that despite all that has passed Eric still cares about those who were once his students as well as Charles'.

Brief summary: There are things you never forget.  A beautiful examination of several X-Men characters, Charles and Eric among them, using the form and imagery of a waltz.  Tartanshell does a good job keeping the continuity despite the divergence into different characters.  Watch for how the beginning snippet is reflected in the last one.
