Claim: Queer as Folk US, Brian/Justin
Title: Basements
Author: [livejournal.com profile] yoursweater
Characters: Brian, Justin, (Lola, Greig, Liam = original characters)
Prompt: 02. AU
Rating: R
Length: Long. 25 chapters.
Brief summary: This is probably the best fic I've ever read. Feelings and events are pinpointed and described with such accuracy you get chills down your spine. You forget about Brian/Justin on the show and care immensely about her Brian/Justin.

Excerpt:
Brian’s already taken two gulps of too-warm-too-plasticy water when he finally indulges Justin, rolls his eyes and asks, “Why are you even here?”

Shrugging, Justin glances around the store, studies the few people milling about even though it’s only bordering eleven in the morning, then glances back at Brian. Watches the way he swallows the water and then wipes his mouth off with the back of his hand. Remembers when Mrs. Kinney would chastise the seventeen year old version of now-Brian, and how the then-kid would just give her a flippant look and drag Justin out of the room by one elbow.

“Got bored, I guess.” Justin whispers, finally, but won’t meet Brian in the eye – so Brian shrugs and tends to the customer that’s been hovering around Justin for two minutes now, waiting for a doorway into the conversation. He tucks the receipt into the plastic bag and hands it over, and when he looks back to where Justin should have already disappeared by now, Brian’s not exactly surprised to see him still standing there.

“Shouldn’t you be somewhere with your boyfriend now, anyway?” Brian asks, can’t help the attitude that makes his voice climb, and for once Justin actually looks surprised – but three years without an every day encounter with one Brian Kinney will do that to anyone.

So he leaves the store without another word.

Brian presses his forehead against the top of his bottle of water and keeps his eyes on the cash register because he’s trying not to see Justin’s shadow still lingering in the doorway outside.

Title: To know the Difference
Author: [livejournal.com profile] burnitbackwards
Characters: Brian, Justin
Prompt: 13. Established Relationship
Rating: NC-17
Length: Medium. 3 chapters.
Brief summary: Takes place after 414. Artiste Justin and BJ at it's best. They're relationship is portrayed wonderfully and the plot is wonderful. Not to mention the amazing writing.

Excerpt:
He curls up close to you, and you want to tell him to go away, that he's dirty and his feet are goddamn cold, but then he starts tracing patterns on your back, long swirls and tiny circles; when he speaks, his voice is low and smooth: "You never complained when I called you in the middle of the night from LA."

You grumble in lieu of an honest answer. You fucking hated it when he called late, at five or six am, telling you how much he loved California, the weather, the tan and laid-back people with their perfect white teeth and expensive sunglasses. It always served as a sharp reminder, exactly the kind you tried to ignore, that he was there and you were here. Nights like that, you thought about doing things like packing up your shit and getting on the next plane out to LAX, but then it was always morning again, and there were things to take care of, another new account or Lindsay's latest domestic woes or Carl moving into Debbie's house.

And after a few hundred mornings, he came back; you can still feel the longing that he has for that place, but it's tempered now, and you think that maybe the two of you can still be happy here, in the fabulous fucking Pitts.
