Brief summary: Shannon is recovering from Boone's death, Claire is recovering from giving birth. They bond and matchmake for each other; sweet and funny in equal measure, a lovely moment that the canon writers were never ready to give us.
Excerpt: "What about you?" She waggles her eyebrows at Shannon. "And Sayid?"

Shannon's jaw works a couple of times, then she tilts her head. "Yeah."

"Oooh." Claire rests her chin in her hand. "He's gorgeous."

"Yes, he is." Shannon grins. "Charlie's cute, too."

Claire sighs. "Yeah. He's a sweetheart."

Silence again, and this time, warmer. Comfortable.

"You know," Shannon says, after a while. "I could watch the baby for a while. If you and Charlie want to--" She smirks.

Claire thinks about cracking a joke, but instead, she considers. "Really?"

Title: Losing It (All Over Again)

Rating: PG-13

Brief summary: Disquieting dreams send Shannon and Claire wandering through the caves late at night. They run into each other. All the better for its brevity; revelations are uncovered quietly, subtly. Worth more than one reread.
Excerpt: She’s drunk herself nearly sick and is splashing water over her face and hair when she hears a noise behind her in the leaves. Claire whirls with a gasp, fingers groping in the dirt for a weapon, rock or stick…anything.

But it’s only Shannon, looking as wretched as she feels. The two women regard each other a second and something passes between them, a moment. Then Shannon falls to her knees at the water’s edge and drinks, scooping cold water over the back of her neck. Finally, she sits back on her heels and looks at Claire again.

Realizing she’s been staring, Claire looks aside. She’s too tired, and too stupid with exhaustion to be truly social.
