Today I bring you two Michael & Walt centric pieces. Because there are not nearly enough Michael & Walt centric pieces, and I love Michael & Walt.

Brief summary: Walt has hit puberty on the Island. Michael can't handle it on his own. A wonderfully funny piece that derives the humor from the characters and the situation rather than letting the humor dictate the behavior of the characters.
"It's Walt's thirteenth birthday today," Michael conceded.

Hurley looked confused, raising one bushy eyebrow and giving Michael a so what? expression. Michael sighed, "His thirteenth birthday. He's going to be thirTEEN."

Hurley's expression remained unchanged for a few seconds and then this information seemed to sink in. "Ohh," he mumbled, and then, his eyes widened. "Ohhhhhhhhhh," he mumbled with understanding.

Michael sighed even heavier and turned to watch his son running after Vincent by the water. He didn't look anything like the ten-year-old boy he'd been when they'd first crashed on that god damned island. He didn't really look much like a boy anymore, Michael noticed, his eyes welling up.

Hurley didn't let this fact go unnoticed and rolled his eyes, "Dude, you are like such a dad."

Michael didn't respond. After a few seconds, he mumbled half to himself, "I guess I have to talk to him..."

"'Bout what?" Hurley asked, a second later recognition dawned on him, "Ohhhhhh, that talk."

Brief summary: A short, dark character study of Michael immediately after the events of Exodus Part Two. It's in character and heartbreaking and packs a hell of a punch in so very few words.
They try to talk to him, comfort him, but all he can say in response is, "Today never happened," as if a mantra would wake him up from the nightmare that surrounds him.
