Brief summary: Lex isn't used to having friends, but he's pretty sure this isn't what friends do...Hilarious!

Friends, apparently, liked to touch a lot. Lex had never particularly enjoyed it when people touched him without permission - no doubt some aspect of his childhood brought to the fore - but Clark was *Clark*; he had unspoken permission to do things that no one else would dare to even think of.

Brief summary: This is one of my all time favorite stories. Basically, Clark is in college and trying to deal with being a student, working his internship at The Daily Planet, being a superhero, being Lex's boyfriend and being a good son. Eventually all the stress comes to a head and it's Lex that has to help him.

Clark decides that a swift exit is in order. Dr. Laird and Perry and the citizens of Metropolis all seem to be urging him to simplify his life. Maybe this is the simplest cut to make. It's by far the most painful, but Lex seems to want it. And Clark has no energy to fight him.

He wants to turn around, wants to head back to the elevator, but his feet seem to have developed a new superpower - superinertia. They just won't budge.

Lex is pacing, and Clark hears him gather a breath, preparing for another round of invective. Then he stops. Stops walking, stops talking.
