Lincoln parks the car at the motel you pointed out. He gets out and moves towards the door and you watch him, watch the way he pierces the air as if it was nothing. You jam the heel of your palm in your eyes, trying to erase the sight of your brother's back muscles moving with such liquid grace.

Air rushes into the car when Lincoln opens your door.

"Michael?" he says and you don't listen. You try to block him out because everything is now sinking in. Everything you have done for Lincoln, everything that has happened is now beginning to weigh itself on the scale of your conscience.

Strong, callused hands take your wrist, and your palms pull away from your eyes, saving your eyeballs from being crushed.
