"Five minutes, Lincoln!" a guard calls out.
Michael's hands clench into fists; Lincoln turns towards him, resolutely, and puts a hand on Michael's knee.
"I want you to tell me something," he says in a rush, "something you've never told anyone before, not even me."
Michael looks at Lincoln uncomprehendingly. "What?"
"Tell me a secret no one knows," Lincoln repeats, urgency in his voice. "And I'll do the same."
Michael is still staring at him. "Why?"
"Because we only have five more minutes," Lincoln replies.
