Claim: Stargate: Atlantis - Rodney McKay
Title: All Non-White Things Aren't Swans
Author: [livejournal.com profile] mazily
Characters: Rodney McKay, John Sheppard, et al.
Prompt: 43. Denial.
Rating: R.
Length: short.
Brief summary: Oh god, fantastic Rodney voice. Freaking out, coming to grips, being brilliant and superior, all with glimpses of his past and little asides to fill in all the blanks of his life.

When Rodney was seven, he turned to his mother and asked, "Are you stupid, or what?"

She smacked him upside the head and sent him to bed without supper, which, as it turns out, is how they discovered that he was hypoglycemic. And allergic to citrus. It was also how they found out that he was a bona-fide genius-- stamped, sealed, and delivered, as it were-- so things really could've turned out a whole hell of a lot worse. Like with him dying. Or brain-damaged. Or dying. Or normal.

This has pretty much been the chorus to the crappy pop song of his life ever since.

Claim: Stargate: Atlantis - Rodney McKay
Title: (Untitled)
Author: The Spike, aka [livejournal.com profile] spike21
Characters: Rodney McKay, John Sheppard.
Prompt: 45. Trapped.
Rating: PG-13.
Length: short.
Brief summary: Rodney is the most human person John knows.

The crazy thing is, when all is said and done, McKay is the most human human John knows. There is no human quality he could name that McKay doesn't possess in spades. He trumps in brilliance, idiocy, self-interest, self-sacrifice. He is vicious, kind, petty, brave, fragile, steadfast, gullible and paranoid. He is funny; he is irritating. If John were stuck on a desert island he'd want a cooler of cold beer, the 1992 Essential Johnny Cash and Rodney McKay. Maybe a dvd player and a Netflix account and a surfboard, and okay if he's asking, satellite tv and the football channel. McKay would bring the sandwiches and sunscreen. Oh, and the laptop and maybe some kind of power source because he's smart like that. A genius even, he's heard mentioned a time or two. And it occurs to him that it's probably weird that 'someone to love me' doesn't even make the list.
