Everyone reacts completely in character; I don't doubt that it would have happened just like this.
It is not Brian/Michael PWP; the story takes place immediately after the act and few details are offered. This story portrays perfectly the way each character has grown and changed, and ultimately allows Brian to learn more about Michael and himself, and Michael to leave his childish dreams behind and figure out what he really wants.
