Title: With Six You Get Eggroll
Author: Speranza, on LJ [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza
Characters: Fraser, Kowalski, Stella, Vecchio, Dief, and the kids
Prompt: 29. Oops
Rating: PG-13
Length: long
Brief summary: I just couldn’t resist putting this story in the oops category, because that is SO what happens to poor Ray and Fraser. Another story from the queen of the dS fandom…don’t worry, there will be more. Basically, Stella and Vecchio come to Canada on their honeymoon and visit Ray and Fraser to find that they have, yes, SIX kids. Watching Ray and Fraser struggle with parenthood and the very real nature of their relationship with each other just made me feel all warm and squishy inside. Another premise that could have been disastrous if in less capable hands, but instead it became one of the more beloved fics in the fandom.

"Man, oh, man, this is gonna suck the big one," Sarah muttered.

"Yes," Fraser told Stella; his voice was firm, but his face was flushing a little, too. "Ray and I--we--"

Ray Vecchio thought it was about time he repeated his question. "Fraser, is this kid yours?"

Fraser licked his lips and then nodded. "In a manner of speaking. To the extent to which anybody can be anybody's. Or rather, he's ours," Fraser added awkwardly, glancing back at Stella. "Ray 's and mine. One of ours. There are...well, six of them. Somewhere." Fraser lifted his free hand and waved it about hopelessly. "Sarah, you've met; she's our oldest." Sarah quickly lowered her head; she was pouring hot water into the teapot now, and looked like she wanted to die. "Eddie and Andrew and Sam are outside somewhere. Holly's with Ray. Girls hockey practice," he added in explanation.

"I--Christ." Ray stared from Sarah to Robbie and back again. "Six? You've got six kids? How on earth--?"

Prompt: 39. Break-up
Rating: NC-17
Length: medium
Brief summary: Okay, okay, I fully admit that this is a stretch as a F/K story. That being said, I still think this fits. To be completely honest, this is a Fraser/Stella (het!), but Ray is so in the room and in the relationship, that I felt like it fit. Fraser and Ray were living in Canada together, but Ray leaves and ends up in a relationship with Vecchio back in Chicago. Stella comes to Canada to visit Fraser and find some closure on her relationship with both Rays, and Fraser and Stella end up finding comfort in each other. A really lovely and complete picture of Stella, and the story that started my little obsession with Fraser/Stella. Even if it sketches you out, this is a wonderful story by a great writer.

Fraser sat heavily in his desk chair. He was a solitary man, returned to his natural state. “Thus has it ever been,” he murmured, and pulled his phone messages closer, trying to focus on the likelihood of Janine Carlisle, a twenty-four year old candle maker and single mother of three, having abducted her neighbor’s pet alpaca, Albuquerque. Fraser reached for his hat. A quick investigation would clear this up, and it was time he faced the prying eyes of his fellow townspeople again. A law enforcement officer couldn’t indulge in the luxury of seclusion and (admit it!) moping for long: it simply wasn’t practical.

He was reaching for his coat when a knock on the door distracted him from his purpose, and he pivoted to see a slim brunette enter the reception area. Doug, the other RCMP officer in the Detachment, had left early to collect a part for his fishing boat, so Fraser stepped forward to welcome the woman. The words died on his lips when he saw her face.

“You’ve dyed your hair,” he said, nonsensically, questions flashing through his mind. What had happened? Was Ray hurt? She didn’t seem agitated, there was no sense of urgency, yet this could hardly be a social call.

Her hand came up, seemingly automatically, to smooth the light brown bangs from her forehead. “Hello, Constable.”

“Welcome to Canada,” he said. “Is everything all right?” He realized he had no idea how to address her. She was no longer an Assistant State’s Attorney. “Ms Vecchio,” he tried.

She grimaced briefly, wiped her boots on the entrance mat, and unzipped her parka. “Call me Stella.”
