Brief summary: I was uneasy about choosing anyone else's story for this prompt, since there's such a negative connotation to it, so I chose my own. After a tough case for both of them, Jack goes to Samantha's apartment for sex. While it's certainly not a rapefic, there's the idea that Jack and Samantha don't really want sex -- but it's a substitute for the more emotional relationship they can't have. It's intentionally painful and messy -- so it kind of gets the spirit of the prompt, if not the actual prompt itself.

Brief summary: My personal favorite of all the WaT fics I've written, because it's a post-ep for my favorite episode ("Maple Street," from S1). Samantha breaks down after the Annie Miller case, and seeks solace in Jack. I wrote it when I was still in that giddy-in-love-with-the-show stage, so it's more emotional than well-characterized -- but I do still like it after all these years. Especially the end, of which I'm still proud. :)

Thus endeth my Jack/Samantha recs. There a few fics I wanted to rec that are no longer available on the Internet, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention them: Anya's Wilting and Parallel and Running Up Fawn's 2003 NaNo entry -- a fabulous, emotional casefile.
