Yesterday's episode ("Further Instructions") made me happy for many reasons. One of them inspired today's theme: Desmond David Hume.

Title: And Give You Peace
Author: [livejournal.com profile] achipiquonque
Rating: PG
Length: Medium
Brief summary: Yet another Desmond&Kelvin fic written before we ever actually saw Kelvin onscreen, but the hatchmates are so wonderfully, evocatively written here; Desmond, normal and still rooted in the "real" world but beginning to slip in the closed-off routine of the Swan; Kelvin, long since insane. A somewhat average day in their lives, almost fluffy until it reaches an ending that is terrifying in its casual darkness.

Title: a house at the end of the world
Author: [livejournal.com profile] _plentyofpaper
Rating: PGish
Length: Short
Brief summary: Desmond/Penny vignettes, all set before that fated race around the world. Quietly evocative, powerful without forcing it. It's as lovely and classical as they are.

Title: And I'm Never Gonna Dance Again
Author: Mandragora
Rating: PG-13?
Length: medium
Brief summary: The Seventh Doctor encounters a woman who is decidedly not happy with him. If you ever wondered about the consequences to some of the Doctor's actions, this story deals with that issue in a thought-provoking manner. (It helps if you've seen the Sixth Doctor serial "Vengeance on Varos," though it isn't necessary to understand the fic.)

Title: Spring Cleaning
Author: infiniteviking
Rating: G
Length: short
Brief summary: The newly regenerated Ninth Doctor must grow accustomed to his most recent self. It takes a lot of adjusting, after all he's been through. The Doctor must work out his new accent, his hairstyle, even TARDIS layout. This is probably the best post-regeneration story I've ever read, and possibly the best Ninth Doctor fic in general.
