Brief summary: This particular version of Jack and Samantha's first time together is my favorite, because it was the first fic about it, and it really gets the emotions right. Samantha follows Jack to his home because she's worried about him after an emotional case, and finds him alone in his house, without his wife -- the absent third party that creeps up between them -- figuratively, and literally: in the form of a particularly jarring voicemail after Jack and Samantha have just been together. It's angsty and hot, sad and sweet, and the characterizations are incredibly accurate, despite the fact that it was written so early in the series' run.

A great story that conveys the reactions a person may actually have when a life-altering event like a band break-up occurs. It's a little bit angsty and a whole lot of gripping. I love this story because I feel like it could really happen.
