She also knows how to create an original character, that is interesting but doesn't over shadow the main players. The OC in this fic seems like exactly the kind of woman Lex would know and her presence in the story serves not only to move the plot but to give us a little insight into both Lex and Clark.

It is dark, moody, and wonderfully well written. This is what happens when Clark loses everything, and Lex is the one to provide him comfort. Here Lex is not so much evil as amoral, and clark is just young enough to be effected by that. Enjoy.
