Big Damn Table.
Claim: Stargate Atlantis: Teyla
Title: Forgetting
Author: Salieri (
troyswann)
Characters: Teyla, Elizabeth
Prompt: 31 - Discovery
Rating: PG-13
Length: Medium
Brief summary: It is not easy to juggle everything that Elizabeth has to manage in order to keep the Atlantis expedition running smoothly. And sometimes, because she is human and no matter how hard she tries not to, Elizabeth will forget something and a details will be missed. This is a warm and gentle story showing Elizabeth's anxious mind as she tries to keep track of everything, and how she discovers that Teyla can derail it, giving Elizabeth momentary peace.
It is a discovery that Elizabeth needs.
"You're back from the mainland," Elizabeth observes unnecessarily.
"Yes." Unmoving, she watches Elizabeth with her cat's eyes until, giving in, Elizabeth leans forward and holds out the post-it. Taking the note, Teyla bows close to decipher it and Elizabeth spares a moment to wonder when Teyla learned to read English. Maybe in her spare time, when she wasn't hunting ZPMs or fighting Wraith or running an entire colony on the mainland. "Leading?" Teyla finally asks with a glance from under her bangs.
Spreading her hands in a helpless gesture, Elizabeth shakes her head. "I have no idea. Whatever it was, I wasn't there."
"Perhaps it was not important then."
"I made a note. I must've thought it was."

Title: Go Forth
Author: Frostfire (
frostfire)
Characters: Teyla
Prompt: 32 - Secrets
Rating: Mature
Length: Short
Brief summary: A short glimpse of what life is like for the Athosians, living in the shadow of the Wraith, and what has become a focus of their culture, one hidden from the Earthers: how they will survive. The story is very short, but powerful and intense.
Under her feet are needles and old leaves, comforting—this world is not so unlike their home, after all, for all that Teyla spends her time in the magical city of the ancestors, where bare feet encounter only hard floors and slick surfaces. Here she can feel the earth under her soles, as she can feel the firelight glowing off her bare skin—and around her, the eyes fix on her, the children in awe, and the adults in hunger. She is the leader of their people, touched by the ancestors to sense the enemy and guard against it, chosen by the elders to travel to other worlds and speak to foreigners—she is their chosen warrior, and her body and her dancing shows it to be so. The most fit of them all. The most desirable.
