Winning wasn’t the objective. For the first time in your adult life you didn’t have one. Unlike life at Wolfram and Hart —which carried its own inherent risks but was, on some basic level, safe— your relationship with Wes was a cat-and-mouse thrill ride with no set parameters. Sometimes you were the hunter and he the hunted. Sometimes you had him right where you wanted him and you really liked the view. Sometimes he had you pinned and you liked that a whole hell of a lot too.
