“Absolutely. Of course.” Starsky forced another smile. “I'd be honored.”
But, Starsky could only feel a sense of loss rather than illation for Hutch and Shannon. He knew Hutch would ask her to marry him eventually and he thought he'd be glad about it. But, when the moment came, it was like he'd been punched in the gut. Was he jealous? Was he afraid it would affect their working relationship? Did he think Shannon had replaced him as Hutch's closest and dearest confidant? Was Shannon good enough for Hutch? Starsky wasn't sure. All he knew was life as he knew it was about to change.
