"Chromatograph" and "Public Transportation"

BIG DAMN TABLE.

Claim: X-Men Movieverse, Rogue
Title: "Chromatograph"
Author: JJBlazer at Blazeplace and [livejournal.com profile] jjblazer.
Characters: Wolverine/Rogue
Prompt: 18. Light
Rating: R
Length: medium to longish
Brief summary: A lot of my recs before this have been stories about how Wolverine and Rogue got together and the first flush of a relationship. The story focuses on an established romantic physical relationship, and the price each person pays to have it. This story is about the consequences of a relationship between Wolverine and Rogue -- emotional as well as physical. Rogue begins to lose her ability to see colors, light, and eventually, shapes altogether. Rogue's trust and faith are heartbreaking, and I cannot deal with the ending, so you are duly warned.

She watches him leave, a shadow among shadows in the long curving moon-dappled driveway of Xavier’s School for the Gifted. A motorcycle roars off into the night and her mask of practiced calm begins to crack. Thankfully, he is not there to see it. He never is.

It is always dark when he leaves. It is always dawn when he comes back. He moves in the realms devoid of light while he goes to do Xavier’s bidding, coming home to her like a wraith mistakenly let out on a day pass.

One day, she knows, he won’t come back at all.

Claim: X-Men Movieverse, Rogue
Title: "Public Transportation"
Author: Artaxastra at [livejournal.com profile] artaxastra.
Characters: Rogue, Magneto/Pyro
Prompt: 20. Non-Con
Rating: PG-13, for language
Length: medium
Brief summary: I'm not quite sure what's conventional and what's non-conventional, since my OTP of Wolverine/Rogue isn't canon itself and I've seen just about every combination of X-Men movieverse pairings (and then some), so I'm going to pretend that Magneto/Pyro is non-con enough for this prompt. Lalalaaaa, can't hear you, canon!

Rogue bumps into Pyro on the DC metro, 8 months after the events at Alkali Lake in X2. The conversation between Pyro and Rogue is terrific, highlighting the problem with having your friends turn into your enemies even though they aren't, not really. The conversation between Rogue and Magneto sheds a lot of light on how they can still relate to each other. Rogue is both plucky and uncertain, a girl caught between forces within herself and larger than herself.

St. John Allerdyce was on the red line Metro. At first Rogue wasn’t sure it was him getting on at the Dupont Circle station. His hair was longer and lighter, like he’d been out in the sun a lot. He was carrying a backpack and wearing a gray t-shirt. He sat down in the front of the car with his back to her without seeing her.

Rogue hunched down in her squishy orange seat. It was early afternoon and there were only about eight people in the car. Maybe it wasn’t him.
