Claim: Fraser/RayK (due South)
Title: "Shack #11"
Author: Julad
Characters: Fraser, RayK
Prompt: 26. Death
Rating: G
Length: Short
Brief summary: An entry for the "101 Ways to End Up In a Canadian Shack" challenge, this was the first dS fic I ever read, back around 2003. I didn't actually begin watching the show 'til a few months ago, but I clearly remembered this story because it had moved me so, even when I knew nothing about these two characters. Now that I do, the quiet of the narrative is even more wonderful and heartbreaking.

There is no escape, I know this. Nights are long, here, sometimes days long, and sometimes lit so brightly that sleep is an unattainable dream. Ghosts have a habit, in this place, of lingering, but I am immeasurably fond of the ghost who visits me.
