Today is my brother’s 50th birthday, so I figured it would be an auspicious day to start my 50 recs quest. So, let’s get the ball rolling!   Sadly, this is only the third time someone has done a Rec50 on The Sentinel. Which is a shame, because we have a rich and varied fandom. I’ve tried to provide a rich and varied selection.  I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I have.  If you do, please take a little time and provide feedback to the authors. You will make their day!

Title: Epiphany
Author: Blankety
Rating: NC-17
Length: 28K
Brief summary: Blair is arrested and calls Jim (who else?) for help. This is short and funny and I love that I can visualize Jim so clearly here. His reactions as he answers the phone – annoyed at being wakened, exasperated at the convoluted mess that got Blair arrested, and fondness for his friend are all classic Jim. Then there’s the guy with the tattoo on his dick. . .

Title: Velcro
Author: Caro Dee
Rating: NC-17
Length: short
Brief summary: Caro described this as “my first smutfic of 2009”. I always enjoy Jim POV stories, especially ones where his senses take center stage. And what could be more enjoyable than sex with heightened senses? ::sighs:: not a lot!

Title: Truly, Madly, Deeply
Author: Audra Rose
Rating: PG-13
Length: short
Brief summary: Very funny story where Blair is dosed with a substance that forces him to tell the truth.  Since Blair is the self-professed obfuscator, it’s his worst nightmare.  Add his tendency to be incapable of keeping his mouth closed and you can imagine the havoc he wreaks in the squad room.  But don’t bother to imagine – just read.

Title: Tempus Fugit
Author: Lemon Drop
Rating: NC-17
Length: 86K
Brief summary: Time goes by as Jim and Blair discover they are in love. Along the way we learn a lot about the three characters whose lives intertwine: Naomi, Blair and Jim. We also learn a lot about any number of holidays as they celebrate everything from Beltane to Yom Kippur.

This has to be the ultimate Naomi as mother-in-law story.  She swoops in and pulls Jim into *her* tribe and he willingly goes. This is one of my all-time favorite stories to re-read. I hope you feel the same.
