Prompt: 14 - Loss
Title: Home-Thoughts From Abroad
Author: Doyle
Rating: PG
Length: medium
Brief summary: This story would actually fit better with the "discovery" prompt but I used that one weeks ago. And "loss" is an acceptable fit when you consider that this fic deals with Nyssa (whose home planet was destroyed) remembering what she's lost and finding a piece of it while travelling with the Fifth Doctor. Bittersweet and very touching.

Title: Frozen Hearts
Author: bibliophile1887
Rating: PG-13
Length: epic
Brief summary: Peri and the Sixth Doctor got off to a rocky start, to put it mildly, when he attempted to strangle her soon after he regenerated. Here, Peri decides she wants to go home, but the Doctor doesn't want to part on such bad terms. I was stalking this story back when it was a WIP, and the fact that it was finished and was well worth the wait is one of the main reasons that I continue to follow promising WIPs.

Claim: Doctor Who, general series
Prompt: 39 - Break-up
Title: Love's Cocoa
Author: The Secretive Bus
Rating: G
Length: short
Brief summary: The First Doctor did accidentally get engaged to Cameca in The Aztecs, and he did leave without her, so it qualifies as a break-up. Here you have the aftermath of the Doctor's departure, a touching piece from Cameca's viewpoint.

Claim: Doctor Who, general series
Prompt: 42 - Holiday
Title: Valentine Roses
Author: Casira
Rating: PG
Length: medium
Brief summary: I usually don't like sweet, sappy stories. I especially usually don't like sweet, sappy Tenth Doctor/Rose stories. So why do I like this one? Because of the great characterization of Rose, who is sympathetic instead of whiny, and because her feelings make sense and there's an alien planet and terrific dialogue. As for the holiday, Rose has missed Valentine's Day but it turns out to be all right.
