Characters:
Prompt: 06. Anger
Rating: NC-17
Length:short
Brief summary: Ray is angry. Everything makes him angry. Sometimes he’s angry with Fraser, and sometimes that anger comes out like SEX. I love the spare narrative in this piece. There’s nothing extra other than how Ray feels and how it makes Fraser feel, and nothing else is needed. Even the sex is simple, angry, and hot.

Title: Broadway Hotel
Author: Resonant, on LJ [livejournal.com profile] resonant8
Characters: Fraser, Ray
Prompt: 37. Make-up
Rating: NC-17
Length: long
Brief summary: Ray leaves Fraser in Canada and goes back to Chicago after panicking about their relationship and his identity, and realizes he doesn’t even know who he is anymore. After some time of exploration, he realizes that he needs Fraser in his life, and there is an absolutely heartbreaking reunion. This is one of those classic pieces in the fandom that everyone has to read as a rite of passage when they start getting into due South. Not to mention that Resonant in an absolutely impeccable writer. This one gets me every time.

My Qui/Obi Table
[I meant to post this day before yesterday, but I really wanted to post a nice, happy piece of something fluffy with Prodigal, but nothing seemed to feel right. So, instead I bring you two stories that nothing good happens in. One is a punch in the gut, the other sends chills up your spine. Enjoy! *evil grin*]

Claim: Star Wars Prequels: Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan
Title: Prodigal
Author: Emrin Alexander [Also listed as Nansi Alexander]
Characters: Qui, Obi
Prompt: 39. Break-up
Rating: G
Length: Short, 5k
Brief summary: Xanatos returns, redeemed, and Obi-Wan loses something very important to him. I wasn't sure what prompt to use with this story, but in the end, I went with #39 Break-up, but this could easily fit Loss as well. Not all stories have happy endings and this one is a little gut-punchy. I come away from it wanting to just hold Obi-Wan and not sure whether I want to shake Qui-Gon or hit him really, really hard. Still, the writing is wonderful and I understand both Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. I sympathize with Obi-Wan, but I do understand why Qui-Gon makes his choice. Hell, Obi-Wan understands his choice, and that's the real beauty of the story. I could go on, but I won't. Suffice it to say, it's good, go read. Now.

Title: Coruscant Gothic
Author: Mystique
Characters: Qui-Gon, others
Prompt: 32. Secrets
Rating: R
Length: Short, 6k
Brief summary: Padawan Kenobi is not seeing visitors right now. Short, creepy, and really dark. I love it. The POV is interesting, because, well, there isn't one really. The story is told only through Qui-Gon's side of the dialog from a few encounters. That will make sense after you've read the story. This is one of those "could have been" dark fics, which really ups the creep factor. In another universe, this probably happened.

Claim: Stargate Atlantis: John Sheppard/Rodney McKay
Title: Where Did All The Physics Go?
Author: amireal ([livejournal.com profile] amireal)
Characters: Sheppard/McKay and other
Prompt: 33 - Crossover
Rating: Mature
Length: Novella
Brief summary: This is a romp. I've always had a thing for parallelism, and the author makes this work. It's sharp and witty, with real fondness for all the characters involved, and she makes the conceit work. Not to mention the fun she has with the relationships of all of the characters. It's a lot of fun.
